Tyler Perry's misjudged take on James Patterson's 'tec

In screen performance there can sometimes be a fine line between the outstanding and the absurd.

Or, in the case of Matthew Fox’s shredded, sinew-popping sociopath in this Tyler Perry-headlined detective thriller, between De Niro-esque commitment and nostril-flaring giggles.

Judging by the rest of the film, it’s probably not Fox’s fault – his stark physicality is the only remarkable thing in a cliché-sodden plodder that also features techno-backed chase sequences, exposition that’s somehow in capital letters even though it’s not written down, and female characters only good for bedding or murdering (usually, both).
