It takes more than a prosthetic schnoz to turn Naomi Watts into the late Princess of Wales. Yet that bogus conk is far from the least credible element in a risible royal soap that tries to turn her fling with surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews) into the stuff of high drama.
Full of awful Dianalogue (“I’ve been a mad bitch!”), cringeworthy performances and crass foreshadowing, it’s a shambolic travesty.
Any one of the ubiquitous Hitler parodies culled from Oliver Hirschbiegel’s earlier Downfall would be preferable to the German director’s latest stinker.
