Dracula: Prince Of Darkness

3

Sequel to Hammer’s 1958 original

Sequel to Hammer’s 1958 original, which was fairly faithful to Bram Stoker’s novel and well-remembered for its climactic Peter Cushing/Christopher Lee duel.

This retread impresses less, featuring a Harker-lite troupe of Brits who ignore the warnings of just about everybody in central Europe and head up to the forbidding castle.

Highlights include the inevitable rise of Dracula himself, who arrives past the halfway mark and doesn’t say a single word, but is still the best thing in the film.
