Furniture music...

British director Joanna Hogg’s first two features, Unrelated and Archipelago, established her as an adept chronicler of the discreet charmlessness of the bourgeoisie. Her third focuses on a childless artist couple (Viv Albertine, formerly of punk band The Slits, and real-life artist Liam Gillick) living on show in a modernist West London house. Tom Hiddleston plays the estate agent charged with selling their home, as much a protagonist as its human inhabitants.

Hogg’s austere approach renders Exhibition as frustratingly inscrutable or fascinatingly incisive as her previous work, depending on your POV, though there’s no denying her originality.
