Field Of Dreams

If you cast Costner, they will watch...

One of those prompts grown men to get something in their eye, Field Of Dreams follows Iowa farmer Ray (Kevin Costner at his most appealing) who hears a voice telling him “if you build it, he will come” – and impulsively carves a baseball diamond in the middle of his corn acreage.

The field entices ghosts of baseball past, sends Ray on a journey of second chances and pitches audiences a final-reel emotional curveball that is whimsical, magical and life-affirming while still keeping it butch.

Rightfully a ballgame classic, this is sentimental nonsense, sure, but charmingly so.

This is my favorite of all time. It will make you weepy if you watch it alone.
