Before Jackie Brown came Foxy Brown, the blaxploitation thriller that set Pam Grier on a roaring rampage of revenge.
Statuesque and dangerous, Grier’s Amazonian ass-kicker remains iconic and a Tarantino favourite.
“She didn’t want to be just another T&A girl,” remembers co-star Sid Haig, who props up the extras along with trailblazing African-American stuntman Bob Minor and a muted commentary from cult director Jack Hill.
It’s not as lean and mean as Grier and Hill’s earlier vigilante outing Coffy (1973) but there’s enough action, sex and titillation here to put the x firmly into Foxy.
