Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell

The worst dinner party guests...

Director Terence Fisher’s swansong, Hammer’s sixth and final Frankenstein film, finds the Baron (Peter Cushing) in Bedlam with a young apprentice (Shane Briant), a busty mute (Madeline Smith) and plenty of inmates to wreak the usual mayhem with.

Although it suffered a critical pasting, it’s more fun retrospectively. Cushing (literally) sinks his teeth into the role, and there’s a colourful supporting cast, even if the philosophical musings have dated better than the make-up – The Monster (played by Dave ‘Darth Vader’ Prowse) looking like a mangy Wookiee.

Extras include an alternative US cut and two thoughtful featurettes.
