Friends With Benefits

3

Sex and friendship could it really work?

What could have been the Scream of romcoms ends up realising – like its characters – you can’t have it both ways. Taking quip-shots at Katherine Heigl movies only to serve up the same clichés it’s dissing, Friends With Benefits’ genre-smarts only go so far.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have more energy than chemistry as the best friends who try going no-strings-attached, but the Black Swan actress is pure star-power.

With funny motormouth banter and a slick support cast – Woody Harrelson is brilliant as a gay GQ sports editor – it’s still a savvy, modern screwball that breezes on more than looks.
