G.I. Joe: Retaliation

3

G.I. Joe: Take Two

Dwayne Johnson elbows Channing Tatum into the background to lead Hasbro’s toy soldiers in another gung-ho blaze of ninjas, tanks, gadgets, muscles, boobsand explosions.

As with the 2009 original, 12-year-old boys will love it – and everyone else will wonder what the hell they’re watching.

The Rock brings bulk, Bruce Willis adds cameo quips and the absurd set-pieces are hugely impressive – but it’s Jonathan Pryce who steals the show as the phoney President trying to blow up the world while playing Angry Birds.

The story makes less sense with every viewing, but that was probably the aim.
