Is Anybody There?

Lonely old man strikes up an unusual friendship with a morbid boy

Sir Michael Caine may be 76 but he’s not about to give up the ghost just yet.

Yet this film finds him playing a man on the verge of doing exactly that: a retired magician consigned to an old people’s home who befriends a boy obsessed with death.

An odd-couple story with melancholy overtones, John Crowley’s film sees its veteran lead go all out for that elusive Best Actor Oscar.

Extras comprise a handful of interviews.
