Back to reality after holidaying in the centre of the Earth, sulky teen Sean (Josh Hutcherson) sets off on an all-new Jules Verne adventure with grinning behemoth Dwayne Johnson.
Not wasting time on boring things like logic, Sean and his pec-popping stepdad wash up in a fantasy land where elephants are as small as cats, volcanoes spew liquid gold and Michael Caine rides through the sky on a giant bumblebee.
Weirder than the first chapter – and all the better for it – the wackiness cranks up a pleasingly silly family merry-go-round.
