SAS assassination thriller

While the ‘true events’ tag hovering over this SAS assassination thriller might be as dodgy as Clive Owen’s moustache, the real problems are a wobbly script and uneven tone. For large stretches it’s an enjoyably lug-headed Jason Statham vehicle, with tidy fights and plenty of growling.

But Gary McKendry’s film also reaches for a grim ’80s authenticity, and roundhouse kicks and boxy Volkswagens don’t mix. Then Robert De Niro turns up in a limp cameo, and streams of exposition are crammed clumsily into various secret meetings, blitzing any remaining tension.
