Killer Joe

William Friedkin's grisly tale of Texan trailer trash

Sleazy does it in this lurid tale of Texan trailer trash, director William Friedkin’s second stab at directing the work of playwright Tracy Letts (Bug).

Matthew McConaughey continues his career renaissance as the title character, a smalltown sheriff and part-time hit man enlisted by a debt-ridden Emile Hirsch to off an unloved relative.

Juno Temple, meanwhile, is Dottie, the tween Lolita who Joe takes as collateral in a steamily claustrophobic slice of southern gothic that builds to a triumphantly unpleasant climax.
