Home-invasion horror meets torture porn in this remake of the 1980 Troma slasher.
Rebecca De Mornay is the matriarch in question, doling out her own brand of squelchy justice when her sons take the owners of their old house hostage.
The script’s more hysterical than a daytime soap but director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saws II-IV) compensates by upping the gore, delivering a surprisingly nasty little thrill ride.
“This is one of the most horrible mothers ever,” understates De Mornay in one of 11 interviews. No kidding.
