A follow-up in name only, this Ong-Bak prequel (it’s set 600 years before) sees Thai bone-breaker Tony Jaa as Tien, an orphan seeking revenge against the warlord who murdered his family.
Despite the reports of on-set breakdowns and money troubles, this messy but entertaining actioner is hardly Jaa’s Heaven’s Gate.
The humble extras are crying out for a meaty Making Of, though – there’s more to this Beginning than meets the eye…
