Perhaps the suspicions about the script were true

Whatever first attracted Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford to Paranoia is not, alas, evident in the finished form of Robert Luketic’s (Legally Blonde) limp thriller.

It stars Liam Hemsworth as Adam: an inventor blackmailed by his boss (Oldman, hammy) into spying on a rival mobile-phone company helmed by Ford’s Jock Goddard.

With corporate politics hardly making for thrilling set-pieces, it’s a premise that stands or falls on the tense fate of a charismatic lead and dialogue that does not clang right off the screen; a woeful lack of both ensures Paranoia more than falls – it collapses.
