Spanish thriller sequel amps up the action...

James Cameron laid down the golden rule for sequels in Aliens: take the original and max the mofo out. Spanish directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza obviously studied Big Jim’s playbook.

[REC] 2 amps up the action, as a cocksure SWAT team get swatted, then adds meat to the original’s skeletal backstory and hints at a viable franchise.

Sticking its premise – The Exorcist with shotguns – on [FF], the sequel doesn’t hit [II] until everyone’s either dead, possessed or a gibbering wreck. Slender extras.
