Some seasoned leads show they can be just as feisty as the young guns...

Red review

Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Dame Helen Mirren play a gerihattrick of old CIA spooks dragged out of retirement by agent Bruce Willis in a light-hearted caper from Flightplan director Robert Schwentke that does for Sanatogen what The Expendables did for steroids.

More character piece than actioner, Red downplays its shoot-outs and car chases in favour of feisty banter between its seasoned leads as they prove themselves to be more than a match for the scheming bureaucrats out to silence them.

Just don’t try and follow the story, which makes as much sense as Nana when she’s had a few.
