If you’re counting, then Texas Chainsaw 3D is the seventh film in this splatter series.
Confoundingly though, it’s actually an ‘alternative sequel’ to the 1974 Tobe Hooper original.
Heather Miller (Alexandra Daddario), Leatherface’s long-lost niece, travels to Texas to claim her inheritance, unaware she’s the offspring of bloodthirsty, chainsaw-wielding maniacs.
The expected family reunion is one hell of a party. Despite being speckled with alumni (Marilyn Burns from the first film, Bill Moseley from TCM2), the relentlessly gloomy and downbeat result (also available in 3D Blu-ray) feels like an unwanted bastard offspring.
