The Campaign

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis race to the White House

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis go head to head in Jay Roach’s electioneering comedy – which, if you excised all the sex gags could be almost be described as ‘Capra-esque’.

Playing small-town rivals fighting filthy at the polls, Ferrell’s power-abusing incumbent and Galifianakis’ mincing oddball sling the mud with style – starting ballot box fights, shagging each other’s wives and punching babies in slow motion.

It’s blunted by a sappy ending and Roach’s low-blow slapstick often sinks the satire, but a handful of sharp jabs, great cameos and big laughs make it just about worthy of its two leads’ talents.
