A religiously reverential homage to ’70s kung-fu movies, The Man With The Iron Fists is the feature debut of Wu-Tang Clan member and martial-arts fanatic RZA.
The writer/director also stars as the titular fighter - a blacksmith out for revenge on a clan leader. It may be ‘presented’ by Quentin Tarantino, but Kill Bill this ain’t. In fact, RZA fails on every level: the script is shocking, the direction is all over the shop and his lead turn mistakes ‘brooding’ for ‘gormless’.
His only trump card is snagging Russell Crowe and action choreographer Cory Yuen, whose support and fight sequences almost save the day.
