The Return Of The Living Dead

Cheap ā€™nā€™ cheerful zom-com

Perennially underrated, Dan O’Bannon wrote Alien, starred in Foster’s Release (a short that influenced Carpenter’s Halloween), and directed decent H.P. Lovecraft adap The Resurrected.

He also wrote and directed this cheap ’n’ cheerful zom-com, where leaked gas brings the local graveyard to gaudy, gory life.

Humorously postmodern (it’s based on the premise that Romero’s films were founded on truth), this DIY splatstick is no Evil Dead but it’s a lot of fun.

Detailed docs include O’Bannon’s final interview.
