The perfect antidote to Amour

The perfect antidote to Michael Haneke’s harrowing Amour, Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano’s gallic comedy-drama focuses on the bromance between rich paraplegic Philippe (François Cluzet) and his new carer Driss (Omar Sy).

Trapped in a world of fusty affluence, Philippe is a frustrated Bruce Wayne; Driss, meanwhile, is a petty criminal with the insurrectionary attitude to match.

Together they make charming mischief. It may be predictable but it’s pepped up by loveable lead performances and a real lightness of touch.
