Despite a more A-listy vibe, poor box office meant WHD ended up as 2013’s ‘other’ White House invasion movie. But rest assured, it’s every bit as ludicrous as Olympus Has Fallen.
It’s also a return to norm for Roland Emmerich after the Bard-dom of Anonymous, bazooka-ing everything in sight as Channing Tatum (playing, just for a change, a military dude) helps President Jamie Foxx protect his pad from terrorists.
There’s a good 90 minutes of popcorn fun here – the trouble is, the film lasts 130, long enough to indulge such eye-rollers as the world’s most unrealistically brave child.
