SAS action film centred around the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege

In May 1980, the SAS stormed the public consciousness during the Iranian Embassy siege.

Two years later, this old-school British actioner exploited the popularity of the men in balaclavas, with SAS officer Lewis Collins infiltrating a group of anti-nuke radicals.

It’s hit and miss, but scenes showing SAS training in Hereford and a bullet-ridden finale – complete with a first-person sequence shot through a soldier’s gas mask – make it the missing link between Brit cinema and videogame Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare.
