What starts out as a routine rockumentary following heavy metal band Lamb of God quickly evolves into something far more interesting in this fly-on-the-waller from Rock School director Don Argott.
Despite kicking off with the expected concert footage, band confessions and fan testimonials, all that’s quickly forgotten when vocalist Randy Blythe is arrested in the Czech Republic on manslaughter charges.
The subsequent court case provides the perfect setting for an examination of the wildness often associated with mosh-pit rock (stage-jumping in particular), and As The Palaces Burn ends up as gripping and unexpectedly moving as anything John Grisham’s ever scribbled.
