BAFTA Shorts 2014

4

Good things come in small BAFTA packages

An alien visits an industrial estate for a kickabout, a slacker gets knocked up at a sperm bank and a Russian prisoner discovers a wormhole in a shoebox.

Some are more obviously nominees than winners, but this year’s crop of BAFTA shorts offers an eclectic mix of promising talent and fresh ideas.

Highlights include Yousif Al-Khalifa’s watery love story Sleeping With The Fishes, Jane Linfoot’s dirty weekend tragedy Sea View and Jamie Stone’s dazzling use of lo-fi FX in absurdist space mini-epic, Orbit Ever After.

They may be short, but they linger longer than most features.
