Alice Eve’s single-mom motelier finds herself in a Cranston pickle when a hood with dodgy eyesight (Breaking Bad’s Bryan) demands she help him re-acquire a stash of missing mob moolah.
Their uneasy relationship is the strongest element in Tze Chun’s noir, the weakest being a comically thick Russian accent that makes Cranston sound like Despicable Me’s Gru.
Twists pile as high as corpses before an overcooked ending sends things spiraling into silliness.
But after so many small roles in big movies, it’s good to see Eve carry a picture, and with some class.
