Dangerous Acts Starring The Unstable Elements Of Belarus

4

Coming from Belarus Free Theatre

There’s a joke they tell in Belarus: “President Lukashenko, we’ve good news and bad news. The good news: you’ve won the election again. And the bad news? Nobody voted for you.”

No, it’s not very funny, admittedly. But then living in “Europe’s last dictatorship” isn’t exactly a laugh a minute, as Dangerous Acts makes clear.

Partly smuggled out of Belarus, this heroic, hard-hitting documentary follows brave actors from the outlawed ‘Belarus Free Theatre’, attempting to confront oppression through art against a backdrop of KGB harassment and ominous ‘disappearances.’

Vivid and vital.
