Goodbye First Love

Fifteen-year-old Parisienne girl falls hard for older teen

Fifteen-year-old Parisienne Camille (Lola Créton) falls hard for older teen Sullivan (Sebastian Urzendowsky), who goes off travelling in South America. Five years on, Camille is an architecture student living with a middle-aged professor (Magne-Håvard Brekke), only for her former amour to re-enter the picture.

On paper, this looks to be your standard French tale of profound first love. Some will find Camille too self-absorbed, yet writer/director Mia Hansen-Løve (Father Of My Children) conjures poignancy, grace and a feel for symbolic seasonal change that’s positively Renoir-esque.
