N.F.A. (No Fixed Abode)

3

An uncomfortable awakening

After falling asleep in his family home, Adam (Patrick Baladi) wakes up in a homeless hostel with no memory of how he got there.

Left with only his clothes and watch, his confusion turns to desperation with no one to help him but care worker Grace (Vicky Roberts).

Dreamy flashbacks distract from Baladi’s moving central performance, but this low-key debut from writer/director Steve Rainbow mostly favours a naturalistic approach that doesn’t opt for easy answers.

Surprisingly unpredictable, N.F.A. has its share of mopey interludes, but ends up unexpectedly close to home.
