Based on Takashi Miike’s 2003 low-budget spookshow Chakushin Ari and directed with vulgarian flair by French TV specialist Eric Valette, it’s ponderous, scare-free and looks like it was soaked in brine for weeks. Thoroughly enjoyed One Missed Call, despite all the horrid reviews it got. Shannyn Sossamon delivers an engaging performance, that at times is a bit off key, but she does a good job as she battles against a supernatural force. Enough gruesome deaths and short sharp shocks to satisfy horror fans.
