Definitely not the dog some would have you believe. Although it irritates towards the end, Raja Gosnell's vibrant live-actioner nails its source 'toon with tongue lolling in cheek. Busy, brief and pacey, it knows how to please its juvenile audience and mildly subverts the original with daft character arcs. Especially ace? Matthew Lillard's uncanny Shaggy.
