You have to feel for gamers. They patiently wait for a faithful adaptation of their favourite X-Box time-waster and are horrendously let down at every release. With hope rekindled, the callused-thumb collective have drooled in anticipation for Silent Hill, putting their boundless faith in the hands of Brotherhood Of The Wolf helmer Christophe Gans. Rose (Radha Mitchell) and adopted daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) pack up the 4x4 and head to ghost town, Silent Hill - a place Sharon mutters of in her near-suicidal sleepwalks. Gans flicks the right switches with scary monsters and mystic mythology but after 40 minutes, it just feels like you’re sitting and watching someone play Silent Hill… for two long hours. The normally reliable Mitchell is reduced to running from clue to clue, screaming like a particularly hysterical banshee, and any flick that requires a ten-minute, Scooby Doo-style flashback to illuminate the recesses of it’s plot, is sorely off the mark.
