Snow White: A Tale Of Terror

1

A familiar tale, retold in its original, macabre, 18th century Brothers Grimm version, and only notable for the fact it stars Sigourney Weaver as the wicked witch and Sam Neill as her husband. Considering the script's pungent symbolism and complex relationships, this could have been a gripping psycho drama. But director Michael Cohn's determination to kick the subject matter around 180 degrees from the sing-songy Disney version means that the feature is a confused mess of horror, thrills and romance. The spooky cinematography and Weaver's sinister stepmum-from-hell both fail to score points in this mindless, worthless tosh. Keep several hundred miles between you and it.
