The Best Man Holiday

2

If a sequel was your Christmas wish...

For those who’ve forgotten 1999’s The Best Man, writer-director Malcolm D. Lee opens this belated sequel with a montage reminder of its various romantic entanglements. It’s a suitably disjointed preparation for the slapdash story that awaits.

As the gang (most notably Terrence Howard and Taye Diggs) and their grudges reunite for Christmas, the tone veers from crude to schmaltzy until terminal illness finally steers the action into a melodramatic morass.

Before long, all that the cast want for Christmas is to escape with their dignity intact.
