Luc Besson returns with this entertaining adventure-cum-fantasy, set in 1912, and adapted from Jacques Tardi’s comic series.
Its intrepid heroine (a wonderful Louise Bourgoin) is a fast-talking explorer/writer who gets caught up in a chain of events involving her comatose sister, awakened Egyptian mummies and a pterodactyl.
Handsomely designed, with polished CG effects, Besson misses a trick by not making more of Adèle’s nemesis Dieuleveult (an unrecognisable Mathieu Amalric).
