A Hijacking

4

A ruthlessly plausible thriller

Hollywood could learn some lessons from Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm, co-writer of recent award-winning drama The Hunt.

This story of a Scandinavian cargo ship taken over by Somali pirates may sound a bit like Under Siege without the action, but it’s actually a ruthlessly plausible thriller, stripped clean of music and melodrama, and all the more engrossing for it.

Johan Philip Asbaek (TV’s Borgen) is the cook struggling to survive the ordeal on board; Søren Malling (also Borgen) the chillingly detached company boss haggling over the ransom.

As tensions escalate and conditions deteriorate, Lindholm’s control is so rigorous that it’s easy to forget you’re watching fiction.
