With the road-movie route map guiding him, tyro writer/director/editor/ cinematographer Jonathan Cenzual Burley serves promising magic-realist fruit from meagre means in his debut.
Two half-brothers (Andrea Calabrese, Javier Sáez) who’ve never met – one cynical, one soulful – trek across rural Spain to the funeral of the shag-happy father they never knew.
Surprises are few, but Burley conjures gentle charms from lush landscapes, an unaffected non-pro cast and patient plotting, the latter’s amiable trot chivvied along by an earthy accordion/guitar score from Tim Walters and Calabrese.
