The kind of small, charming and accomplished movie that only the French now make for the big screen, Axelle Ropert’s tale of Parisian brothers obsessed by the same woman wavers between being touching and cutely improbable.
Subtle performances full of telling gestures are its strong suit, with a gruff Cédric Kahn and a hesitant Louise Bourgoin (The Love Punch) trading smiles and unlikely confidences.
Echoes of Eric Rohmer are pleasing rather than irksome, but Ropert has developed a quirky style that’s very much her own.
