A grime DJ is cooling off in an East End VIP room. Outside there’s a shot, and smokers look up to see the same DJ (Sebastian Nanena) run past, carrying a pistol. Is he a murderer?
His journalist sister (Parminder Nagra) investigates, and ends up fumbling with the dialogue in this low-rent London-based Shaft clone.
Written by Shameless creator Paul Abbott, Twenty8k keeps its feet on the ground, but the violence, drugs, politics, prostitutes and development deals never quite mesh into a satisfying whole.
