Sean Brosnan is no Bond as aliens invade Earth

Kickboxing aliens invade a Derby housing estate in a laughable Independence Day wannabe.

Pierce Brosnan’s son Sean (largely shirtless) and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s daughter Bianca Bree are the stars, with Jean-Claude Van Damme himself turning up as a survivalist recluse who becomes Earth’s last line of defence.

One long tracking shot around a supermarket under siege suggests what director Dominic Burns (How To Stop Being A Loser) might achieve with a half-decent budget.

Alas, no amount of fiscal ingenuity can excuse the wooden acting and crummy dialogue in what is a feeble offering.

Well would you look at that, available on DVD already. What a surprise!

I watched this earlier today. And now, I wish I'd done something more fulfilling.... like repeatedly stick myself in the eye with a rusty steak knife. The script is beyond awful, the acting is even worse, and the actual plot itself is... well... completely pointless. Nothing happens.... at all... for about 50 minutes! The actual invasion is too confusing to even focus on. And the bit in the 'review' above of Van Damme being "a survivalist recluse who becomes Earth’s last line of defence". Really? I think this review was essentially just copied off the back of the dvd box blurb.... I have a thing for watching bad b-movies, and occasionally being surprised. I enjoy watching these movies, even the terrible ones. But this? Holy c**p.... Avoid this like the plague. I'd struggle to give this 0.5 out of 5.

Not only is Die Hard 5 a 12A in the UK, but it had extra cuts to get the certificate... The BBFC has revealed that Fox had been in consultation over how to get the certificate it desired. In its original form - presumably the version the US is getting - the film would have been given a 15.

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said? Actors - Well I can't see them getting any other parts other than on Eastenders. Totally wodden infact it would have been better cast if they had had the "Wooden Tops" The camera man/woman the jerky movement make me feel queezy at times. I know what you're trying to achieve but Blaire Witch Project it isn't... The slow motion scenes are also pointless.... Musical score if you can call it that is aweful. The CGi is about the best thing this film has going for it. But War of the Worlds, it is not... Whoever funded this movie, kiss your money goodbye. My advice to the producers and actors is have a look at some films that. If you're thinking of buying the DVD, DON'T
