After the very sudden death of her mother, 19-year-old Rose (Samantha Morton) embarks on a series of casual sexual encounters in Liverpool. Increasingly however, her relationship with pregnant elder sister Iris (Rushbrook) becomes even more fractured. There's little in the way of plot here, just a collection of impressionistic experiences and fantastical nightmares as director Carine Adler takes us on an ugly journey under Rose's skin and into her troubled mind. Skillfully shot, impressively acted (especially by Morton) Under The Skin is a moving exploration of grief and jealousy, which deservedly won Best British Feature at this year's Edinburgh Festival.
