But it took the twisted mind of Robert Aldrich to cast them together, in their declining years, as raddled former movie-star sisters trapped in mutual loathing in a spooky old Hollywood mansion. A ripe chunk of wildly OTT Grand Guignol, shot in glistening black and white and seized on with avidity by both ladies, who play it all the way to the hilt and then some.
