Pixar's wondrous movie starts with inventive, mould-breaking visuals and just builds from there. Perfect voice performances coupled with a load of great lines ("Waiter! I'm in my soup!") means plenty of laughs for your cash. Rising above the formulaic inspirational storyline, this is another computer-generated marvel with a heart and a brain. Buy the disc. Watch the flick. Otherwise all this genius will be wasted on the kids.
DVD Extras:
Outtakes, Geri's Game (award-winning short film). A direct-from-digital-source transfer just confirms what we knew all along - this movie looks (and sounds) great. The extra features are neat (who could resist a second batch of those outtakes?), but what's missing is a little more insight into the making of the triumphant insect-fest. Microscopic quibbles aside, grab this CG classic on a format with a life guaranteed to be way longer than a bug's.
