Time hasn't been kind to Disney's '50s adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic, which lacks the magic of certified classics such as Snow White or Dumbo. Part of the problem is the source material, which doesn't have a strong enough narrative to anchor a film, although several trippy sequences - the surreal Cheshire Cat and the druggy caterpillar exhaling letters - retain the writer's hallucinatory power.
