Predators are breeding and hunting Aliens in an ancient temple in Antarctica. A human team led by billionaire Lance Henriksen and action girl Sanaa Lathan stumbles upon them. Great set-up; shame about the execution...
After some effective Jaws-style suspense, director Paul WS Anderson keeps the killer ETs apart for almost half the movie. Sadly, that means you've got to wade through buckets of B-movie preparation before finally getting the thimbleful of A-list monster action the title promises.
DVD Extras:
Anderson's fanboy enthusiasm lifts the selection of Making Of mini-docs, deleted scenes and production art. His commentary on the theatrical cut of the film - with Lathan and Henriksen, whose mobile 'humorously' goes off mid-chat - is informed, passionate and endearingly silly. So it's odd that there's no commentary on the extended cut of the film (a smattering of extended scenes and a different pre-title sequence). Surely that's where it's needed most?
