With a screenplay seemingly drawn from Ain’t It Cool talkbacks, AVP-R feels more like a fanboy’s Christmas list than an actual film. Hybrid ‘Predalien’? Check. Multiple chestbursters? Check. Lead characters that act in a logical way? Forget it. Gore geeks will thrill to the gloop that splatters as the rival beasts mash up a Colorado backwater. Seven featurettes finger the references and actors gob words like ‘gnarly’, which is as insightful as it gets.
