Punch-Drunk Love proved that underneath Adam Sandler's whining, meek-geek persona lies a vat of dark, effervescent passion. About Schmidt proved that Jack Nicholson can still conjure up subdued subtlety if he'll only quit that blasted trampolining-eyebrow routine. Anger Management proves that they can both spot an easy paycheque from a few miles off.
Annoying really, given the high concept behind this clock-puncher (Sandler's placid nice-guy gets wound round the bend by Nicholson's barmy anger therapist) should have made for a comedy corker. But, beyond a cameo conveyor-belt and an obese cat, the grins wear thin as the odd couple yawn out a handful of lazy laughs en route to the schmaltzy finale. Now that's got to make you angry.
