Ash (Bruce Campbell) stands in a dusty castle courtyard surrounded by knights and peasants, brandishing a shotgun. "All right, you primitive screw-heads, listen up," he bellows. "This is my boom stick!" Did you smirk at that? If not, then forget watching Army Of Darkness, Sam Raimi's third Evil Dead instalment.
Best described as Jason And The Argonauts as performed by the Three Stooges, it's an uneven caper that plants Campbell's deadite-bashing shop assistant in the 13th century. The humour's broad and the effects are primitive, but taken with a couple of tinnies it's top late-night entertainment.
